Our Mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for individuals whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drug dependencies.

Purpose

Calgary Alpha House is a non-medical facility providing services for those who are under the influence of, or withdrawling from, alcohol and/or other drugs and require assistance in stabilizing their condition.

Eligible Clients

Men and women, 18 years of age and older who require a safe setting while reducing their level of inebriation.

There is no limit to the number of times clients may access services.

SERVICES OFFERED

Drop-in

The Drop-in is a safe, supportive environment for individuals under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

People can come to the drop-in for a rest, coffee and donuts, a shower or to speak with staff.

The drop-in is operated between the hours of 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm every day.

Overnight Shelter

The shelter, which can accommodate 50 clients, is operated on a 24 hour basis for clients who are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

A sober client, with an admitted alcohol or other drug problem, may use the overnight shelter on a short-term basis..

Detoxification

Detoxification is generally three to five days, accommodating 16 men and 4 women. Clients are monitered in a non-medical environment with no drugs administered for withdrawl.

Clients are provided with information regarding drugs and alcohol abuse, self help groups and addiction treatment options.

While staying at Calgary Alpha House, Clients receive:

• 24 hour physical care and supervision
• Compassion and understanding from trained staff
• Opportunity and encouragement to look at new directions in life
• Information regarding treatment opetions and self help groups.
